F1 24 V1.5 – What has EA improved?
Negative reviews on games are not a rare occasion. But when EA released their newest F1 game (F1 24) the negative reviews we’re overwhelming the positives. A big problem with this years game seems to be the new handling. Which is focused more on casual player, but require professional racers to break the laws of physics in order to gain laptime.
Since the release EA have been working on improving the game. Monday, June 24 at 10am UTC EA released a new update patching some of the issues of the F1 24 game. What has really changed? And what has to be improved in the upcoming patches?
The improvements
Let’s start on a postive note, EA has improved quite a lot of points in the new patch. These issues have been resolved with the newest patch:
- AI will now use ERS more effectively to encourage overtaking and building gaps between one another
- Fixed an issue which could cause the game to stop on the starting grid and not advance to the race
- Flattened out a bump in the track surface at Catalunya turn 13
- Changed the UI colour for Haas & Visa Cash App RB for easier identification
- Slightly increased the amount of brake pressure needed before ERS stops deploying to help people with controller or pedal problems
- Fixed a rare crash that could occur when entering the Player Hub from the Main Menu
- In Multiplayer races, vehicles which crash heavily into barriers will behave more realistically when viewed by other players
- Fixed a rare issue which could prevent the player from using Engineer commands during a number of sessions
- All cars will now use the legally correct tyre compounds in Sprint Qualifying 1 & 2
- Improvements have been made to make simulated AI times more consistent with their on-track times
- DRS markers have been adjusted to the correct locations at Spa and Melbourne
EA have also implemented the newest Ferrari livery including the sponsorship from HP. Not sure if this is a positive, but that’s not to blame on EA.
The negatives
Although EA has stated the bump in Catalunya turn 13 has been flattened, some drivers still report problems with a mysterious bump in T13.
EA have recreated Spa, in which they mainly did a great job, but having the DRS marker on another location of the actually DRS activation point? How did EA miss that?
With the newest patch new issues started to exist. Although EA stated in earlier patches that they ‘Fixed a rare issue which could prevent the player from using Engineer commands during a number of sessions’ it seems like people are still dealing with this issue.
What does EA have to resolve in their next patch?
Altrough a lot of people want to see a big update on the handling side of F1 24, it probably won’t be in a patch soon. So to be realistic, we’ve made a list with recurring issues in the F1 24 game:
- A fault in the ERS system creates a issue where a driver can deploy ERS without it actually going down
- Force feedback issues are still a recurring issue on different consoles and wheels
- According to multiple drivers there is a small advantage at the race start for the lobby host
- Apart from Spain T13 drivers have reported more issues on other tracks, these include:
- Invisible bump at Turn 1 (Bahrain)
- Invisible bump at Turns 14-15 (Miami)
- Invisible bump following Turn 15 (Silverstone)
- Unusual collision behaviour with kerb at exit of Turn 13 (China)
EA Sports still has a long list of issues that need to be fixed to improve realism and keep the game fun for all level of drivers. Let’s hope EA improves the game with every following patch.
